As the summer winds down, the Sunderland Public Library offers a series of visual presentations by our Sunderland friends and neighbors who’ve had some amazing adventures. These stories and images will transport you to fascinating places around the world.
From ruins of Ancient Rome to present-day Bedouin life, Will & Liz Sillin’s March 2008 trip to Jordan spanned millenniums.
In July 2006, Sunderland selectman Scott Bergeron put down the gavel and scaled Mt. McKinley, North America’s highest peak. This presentation is in conjunction with an exhibit of Scott’s photographs from this trip, which are on display in the Lane Family Reading Room.
Laura Williams’ trip to India in January 2007 was not the ordinary tourist fare. There for the wedding of her son, the trip was a first-hand look at the culture and traditions of India.
Don’t miss the fantastic display of Scott Bergeron’s photographs from his Mt. McKinley climb now on view in the Lane Family Reading Room. Scott has generously donated two photographs (one framed, one matted) to the library for a silent auction. The silent auction run from August 17th – August 26th…here’s your chance to take home a little piece of Scott’s adventure and help the Sunderland Public Library at the same time!
What do fog, flowers, and fireworks have in common?
Chemistry! Witness some cloud-forming, color-changing, and explosive indications that a chemical reaction is taking place.
For ages 7 - 12 yrs. old & families. Pre-schoolers are welcome to attend with their families and will generally enjoy watching, but they will be too young to grasp the science behind the presentations.
