How do I get a library card?
Your library card comes free of charge. Adults must have a picture ID and proof of address. Children under the age of 14 must have a parent or guardian sign the registration form.
How long can I keep my books?
DVDs, videos and magazines circulate for 7 days. All other Sunderland Public Library materials circulate for 21 days. The loan period for items received via Interlibrary Loan is determined by the owning library.
What are your overdue fines?
In lieu of overdue fines, the Sunderland Public Library accepts donations. The overdue fines for materials received via Interlibrary Loan are determined by the owning library.
Borrowing privileges are suspended when a patron’s account accumulates over $10 in fines (from all libraries in the system). Patrons are also blocked from borrowing when there are billed items on the account or when there are more than 50 items checked out.
What if I lose my book?
If a patron loses an item, a replacement fee is charged according to the Replacement Fee Schedule. Replacement copies are also accepted.
Can I renew materials?
Most items can be renewed once. Renewals can be done in person, over the phone or online from our catalog at your convenience.
Do you have a photocopier available for public use?
There is a copier available in the library’s Copy Center. The cost is $0.10 per page.
Do you have a fax machine available for public use?
There is a fax machine available at the circulation desk. The cost is $1.00 per page to send or receive.
Can I eat in the library?
We ask that food and beverages be enjoyed in the café area of the library.
